South Africa 120 BYD electric bus orders, the first batch of production

On October 8, 2024, the first batch of 20 BYD electric bus orders in South Africa rolled off the assembly line at BYD Qingdao factory. This is another important step forward since the two sides reached cooperation in July this year.

Tian Chunlong, general manager of BYD's commercial vehicle Division, and his delegation held a meeting with Meyer Francois, CEO of Golden Arrow, a South African operator, and exchanged information on cooperation models and operational support to help the smooth operation of the electric bus fleet.

From the live test of electric buses in 2021 to 120 bus orders in July 2024, BYD electric buses have gradually opened up the South African market with leading technology and reliable quality, and won customer recognition. The 120 electric buses in production, optimized for local climatic conditions and transport needs, are the first electric bus fleet in South Africa.

After the vehicles are put into operation, they will not only bring quiet and comfortable riding experience to the public, but also purify the urban air, lead a new fashion of bus travel, and inject green power into the sustainable development of the "rainbow nation".
